Overview

SME’s previous construction management software was causing inefficiency and delay within the accounting department and when managing the company’s jobs. “It took hours and hours to produce payroll for 40 employees.  We couldn’t get invoices out the door. It was terrible; we had to get out of it,” said Pinsky. With invoices piling up, Adam had to get a new program underway quickly. “We were under the gun - our accounting function with the old software simply did not work,” said Pinsky, who even called the president of their previous software company to express his frustration with the product’s inability to perform. In the end, the only real solution would be to change to a new software program to manage the company’s projects and process accounting.

After evaluating a few different programs, Pinsky’s decision to purchase Spectrum came down to sales philosophy. “Our rep talked about what our issues were and what Spectrum’s capabilities were. There was no pressure, it was consultative – the ‘anti-sale’ process,” said Pinsky. During the conversion process, he used Spectrum’s electronic data conversion tools to move live data such as open invoices and job cost history from the old system into Spectrum. The process was electronic, saving time and providing access to key information within the new system.

Upon implementing Spectrum® Construction software, hewas able to not only solve his payroll and invoice processing issues, but found he could use Document Imaging to eliminate massive amounts of paperwork generated by each job. “Document Imaging saved us not only a file cabinet, but saved us a person – we’ve avoided having to hire a file clerk,” said Pinsky. He explained further, “In a week we would have literally a foot of paper that would have to be filed. We would have to excavate through layers of paper to find what we were looking for.” The Document Imaging capabilities also help SME project managers reduce waste paper and streamline their operations. “All project managers’ documentation is all in one place. We no longer need to have a permit file, it’s all scanned into the system,” said Pinsky.
